Hedingham castle wedding photographer
It’s was my first time working as the Hedingham castle wedding photographer. After a quick look round this stunning wedding venue I knew I wouldn’t be short of great photo opportunities. With the ceremony taking part in the castle it’s self and the reception in the main house.
First stop was to go and may hello to Sahai who was getting ready in the bridal cottage. As you’ll see in the photos Sarai has the most infectious cheeky smile with beautiful white teeth beaming through. Now it was a sad day in one respect, that being I had currently been on run of 54 weddings without a drop of rain. Yes not a drop of rain had fallen at a wedding I was shooting since September 2014. We’ll all good things come to end and I can no longer use it as a sales pitch, but hay ho I’ve shot 4 since this wedding at Hedingham castle and the good weathers back!
Candle lite wedding ceremony
Now for the ceremony its self they close all the shutters on the windows and the castle is lit by candles which creates a wonderful ambience. Now I never use flash in the wedding ceremony normally but the spot where the bride and groom take their vowels is pretty much in a black hole. So as not to kill the great atmosphere the candles were creating in Hedingham castle I set up a flash with a small soft box on a tripod to gently light the bride and groom. Blowing my own trumpet I know but its little tricks like this that separate the best wedding photographers from the rest of the crowd. You what you photos to reflected the real essences of your day, not nuke the room with flash so it looks likes someone’s turned the lights on.
Most of my wedding photography is reportage, I try and let the day unfold but of course we’ll shoot some bride and groom portraits and family shots as requested. I suggest you try and keep the number of family shots to around 10-15 so as not to spend your whole day in endless photos. I’m taking plenty of other photos of your guests and family throughout the day.
Hedingham Castle wedding venue
As the weather wasn’t great outside which was a shame as the gardens at Hedingham castle are nothing short of stunning, we shot some family photos in the main house before the main wedding breakfast. I I used the main house at Hedingham again for a quick shoot with the guys as we hadn’t had time early.

All in all a fantastic wedding venue and it was a joy to be the Hedingham castle wedding photographer for the day and I’m sure I’ll make a return in the near future.
